Watch out for April 1st 2009 computer worm

150225-worms

A computer worm named “conficker” created in 2008 is back this year.  If  you computer became infected worm (conficker strain “C”) will activate itself on April 1st (April Fool’s Day).  This is the only part that’s more or less certain. It’s not know what it will do. It could delete your files, capture your keystrokes and steal your financial data, use you computer to attack some websites, or as some think it’s more likely to annoy you into buying some crappy software or hijack your web browser. Malware creators these days don’t write viruses/worms just for fun any more. They are in it for the money.

Another piece of information. This worm stops Windows updates, so check if you haven’t received any updates in March. That would be a sign of possible infection.  Update your Virus definitions and check http://safety.live.com

And here’s the CNN article for reference
