Finally an affordable good capacity SSD

In May 2007 I’ve bought what was one of the fastest consumer hard drives on the market Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10000 RPM for $209. Of course in these days of super fast Solid State drives WD’s Raptor seems really slow.  I’ve been waiting for a day SSD of the similar capacity becomes affordable (that’s under $200 for me) and the day came!

Few days ago  OCZ debuted SandForce-driven Onyx 2 SSDs. Available in 120GB and 240GB capacities, these SandForce-based drives offer 270MB/s read, 265MB/s write, and up to 10,000 random write IOPS (4k aligned)

And best news, 120 Gb drive is listing for just $189.99, while 240Gb is still a bit out of reach at $439.99

Time for an upgrade! 🙂
